Warrior Nun Locations in Madrid; a captivating journey through the city's ancient streets.

Hi! My name is Kass and I am here to tell you about my travels around Warrior Nun locations in Madrid.

First of all, I would like to thank @OCSNewsletter for this offering me to write this blog and @Kara_Di for the amazing map with all the Warrior Nun locations in Spain. The amount of work put into this is incredible.

So, without further ado, I invite you on a trip to the filming sites of our favorite series. Grab your backpacks fellow warriors and let’s go!

The starting point of our route is the Anton Martin metro, almost in the very heart of Madrid. A huge advantage of this beautiful city, in my opinion, is that everything is within walking distance and there is no need to use the metro to move around the center, which helps to visit more places in one go and walk along the small streets of this historical capital.

Just a few steps from the subway, is our first stop: Cine Dore. This cinema is located on the charming street of Calle de Santa Isabel, where every second house has a wine bar, and a good half of the buildings are in thickets of wild grapes. The cinema itself is a special place for the people of Madrid and still has large selection of classic films to watch.

Even if this building was not the goal of the route, it is impossible to miss it, the vintage interiors here are still preserved in their original form: the red facade with white columns and the foyer with a bar, the walls of which are lined with blue tiles, look fascinating.

Built-in 1912, both inside and out, this historic building definitely impresses any observer, and at first sight, you seem to be transported to the very moment when this charming Art Deco cinema appears before Ava and Beatrice in episode 3 of season 2.

I would especially advise you to approach it from Calle del Olmo, so for the first time, you will see it from the same point of view as our heroines.

Not far away, on the street Calle de las Huertas, there is a flower shop with the beautiful name Lola De Castro Floristería, where Ava and Beatrice found a message from Camila.

Before I start describing this small but very colorful place, allow me to give you a little advice: check in advance the opening hours of the places you want to visit. I did not take this into account and the first thing I saw was a sign that said that the store had been closed for half an hour already.

But even this cannot spoil the impression of what you see. This place is very charming, more like a private garden full of plants and flowers of all kinds than a shop.

Moreover, based on photographs of the interior of this place, I would even dare to describe it as a door to some fairy-tale world inhabited by fairies. The enchanting atmosphere of this shop allows you to travel with your imagination, and inside, the relaxing sound of the water, together with the variety of plants, creates a special environment that allows you to momentarily isolate yourself from the noise of the city.

As for the streets where the action of our show takes place, they are scattered around the center of Madrid, and you have to walk some distance to get to them, although for me this is rather an advantage, as it allows you to enjoy the various architectural styles of the Spanish capital and feel the inextinguishable energy of its residents.

Calle de Núñez de Arce from “Villa y Corte” moment captures the true atmosphere of Madrid, with its bars, restaurants and authentic shops, each filled with laughter and music that beckons you to come in. And I absolutely understand how Ava, feeling the spirit of this city that never sleeps, was so eager to explore every part of it.

Street Calle Puñonrostro, where the fight takes place in the same episode, is very different from its noisy neighbors. It is even more of an alley than a street, where you rarely meet random passers-by and the walls of houses on both sides create a feeling of isolation from the eternally loud bars and restaurants, literally a few steps away from you. Once on this deserted pavement, you seem to be transferred to that very scene and can almost feel the tension just like Ava and Beatrice when they were hiding from their pursuers.

Perhaps for people who are not familiar with this series, these streets would not seem different from the rest, but they gave me a unique opportunity: to be a part of a story that touched so many hearts, including mine.

The next point on our map is the Falling Angel graffiti on the wall from 2x07. Realizing, of course, that there will hardly be a drawing there, I couldn’t help but go and check it personally... After all, as Emily Dickinson wrote, “Hope” is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all …

To do this, you have to make a small detour to the side and go to Viaducto de Segovia, a very beautiful aqueduct that has been standing since 1874. After walking around this beautiful piece of architecture several times, no graffiti was found (unfortunately), so let’s continue to the last stop, the place where Adriel walks on water in 2x02.

The stroll itself is already very entertaining, passing the Royal Palace and gardens, which impress not only with their beauty and architecture but also offer a beautiful view of the capital from one of the observation points. You can also see the Opera House of Madrid along the way and just enjoy this unique city, which is especially charming in spring, as it is planted with magnolias. It is simply impossible to imagine this beauty - when they all bloom at the same time. In addition, in a small park near the Plaza de España, just on the way, cherry blossoms bloom, dressing each branch of the tree in magnificent white or pale pink colors, which, of course, makes you want to stay and admire this delicate beauty.

So, having admired the nature of Madrid to the heart's content, we approach our destination. This is the Egyptian temple of Debod, dedicated to the goddess Isis. It stands, surrounded by an artificial reservoir, on top of a hill in the Cuartel de Montagna park, and in order to approach it, you must go through the stairs hidden in the greenery that leads up the hill from different sides.

It is very unexpected to see such a building in the center of the Spanish capital, but it fits very harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, in all the harmony and simplicity of its lines.

A special energy comes from it, which seems to take you back to the time of the pharaohs and pyramids and allows you to feel the unique atmosphere of ancient Egypt! I succumbed and was enchanted.

At sunset, this place makes an unforgettable impression, when the slanting rays of the sun emphasize its beauty with the play of light and shadow. In addition, at night they turn on a very thoughtful backlight, so whenever you visit this charming place, it will not leave you indifferent.

Especially for people who are fond of history (like the history nerd writing this), but who have not yet managed to visit such an amazing country as Egypt, Templo de Debod is a must.

Even though this magnificent temple, is the last place on the map for today, I can’t help but mention the Prado as one of the most interesting filming locations in Warrior Nun, but such museum, which has one of the richest collections of paintings and sculptures, needs a whole day devoted to it.

I can only say, having been in this museum before, that it should be one of the first places to visit, not only for the fans of the series, but for everyone who visits the Spanish capital. It is impossible to travel to Madrid and not tour the Prado.

The museum is appreciated by art lovers for the exceptional completeness with which it reveals the art of painters and sculptors of different eras, in addition, in the halls of the museum, artists are allowed to sit with an easel in front of their favorite paintings and make copies of them. (This is an idea for the talented artists in our fandom.)

So, the first part of our tour of the WN filming locations has come to an end and I must honestly say that I did not expect that I would get such pleasure from what I saw. Having lived in Madrid for several years now and knowing it quite well, I did not think that there were many places here that I had not explored. But Simon Barry, as usual, never ceases to amaze, managing to find fascinating places throughout Spain, which became the best scenery for the series. Thanks to him, Madrid appeared in a completely new perspective, and I was incredibly glad to feel like a part of the story that became so dear to me.

Finally, let me thank everyone who participated in the creation of this series, I can never find words to express how much I appreciate all their work, the story itself and the characters in it. I also wanted to thank the fandom for making me feel like a part of a big family and everyone who fights every day to save our show!

Keep the faith, warriors! We can do this! Together!

Hope you join me in my next adventure!

See you soon!
