HALO BEARERS

The #SaveWarriorNun campaign has reached several significant milestones as it progressed: The first million tweets, the first billboard, the fan meetups, the website launch… It has also reached moments that will not be forgotten by the fandom: The cast interactions, the interviews, the cancellation twitter space, the 10 million twitter space, the food mayhem…

We’ve been fighting for 100 days, and today we, at the OCS Newsletter wanted to hear from the fandom the reasons why people started fighting for the show and the reasons why we continue to fight, every single day since… here’s a few testimonials.

Why Then?

On December 13th of 2022, Warrior Nun was cancelled by Netflix, and the Save Warrior Nun Campaign stared. But why were we Fighting then?

“The characters are so relatable, every single of them has a story to tell, and that story is not over” - @boobaah_

“I watched 2 seasons in one day, and I went on twitter to find the news about season 3. I read that this fandom was fighting, and I decided to join” - @jJreczko97

“I realized it wasn’t only about an amazing show getting unjustly canceled, but how our story is worth telling. I decided I had to help and it evolved from there” - @ufcfan4life2

“Warrior Nun gives me hope for a world where strong women leading a fight and a show, rescuing themselves and each other is the norm and not the exception” – @beatricbadass1

“I’ve never been in a fandom community before, I’ve always just liked things this much by myself. It felt good to participate in a community of people who were sharing my feeling” - @HiredHandSudio

“I desperately want to see women loving women represented on screen. Warrior Nun is different and that makes it so, so beautiful” – @WnSavior

“Because of the complete disrespect to the show, cast and fans” @flawedwarrior

“Because every single character has touched me, has a story that resonated with me and these stories, our stories, deserve more than an unjust cancellation” - @coeurdinosaur

“I felt represented and I didn’t want to stay quiet again” - @WolfieLovesYo

“Every sapphic show being canceled enraged me. And also, because avatrice is the slowburn that I’ve always dreamed. We usually don’t have the right for slowburns because either it’s cancelled, or the story is rushed with the fear of cancelation” - @QueenTalkSwan2

“Because I fell in love with Warrior Nun and, for the first time in a long time, I was furious” - @LennaPo

“Warrior Nun, with a team of wonderful cast, directors and all of other creative people should exist and it’s worth fighting” - @Justellie25

“Warrior Nun is an amazing show, cancelled on a cliffhanger. The chemistry between Ava and Bea was palpable” - @amaliagr72

Why Now?

100 days later and our fight continues. We continue to believe, to fight and to look for justice for our sexy nuns with guns (and our morally dubious Father). Why?

“The curse of killing off/cancelling shows the moment queer characters appear should be broken and we won’t be silenced” - @boobaah_

“I met here the greatest people from all over the world because of Warrior Nun. So saving it will be kind of my thank you” - @Jereczko97

“Every single person matters. Everyone should be able to see parts of themselves in characters and stories delivered to us by mainstream media” - @ufcfan4life2

“The reasons i started Fighting for have become even more important. Representation matters, for women, for LGBTQ+...” - @beatricbadass1

“Stories matter. It matters who gets platformed, who gets handeed the microfone and I want better for myself and for my daughters” - @HiredHandStudio

“This show will come back. Women, queer women especially, cannot lose yet another beautifu story of complex women who hppen to love each other” - @WnSavior

“When i was younger, shows with representation made me comfortable with my sexuality, so it’s important that LGBTQ+ people see characters that reflect them have complete stories” @flawedwarrior

“Because of the Community we built, the people I’ve met and the chance of making a difference for representation” @coeurdinosaur

“The Cancel Your Gays trope has to stop, not only for WN but for all of these shows” - @WolfieLovesYo

“Because I believe that we have commercial value, But, most importantly, because of the connections that I made, the inside jokes, the people, the shared universe” - @QueenTalkSwan2

“I still have anger to fuel this fight” - @LennaPo

“It became personal” - @Justellie25

“I’m still fighting because of the fandom. I fell into a group of like-minded people from across the globe and I’m delighted to be here” - @amaliagr72
