Warrior Nun Taiwan Interview with Shu

Warrior Nun Taiwan recently did an interview with fellow HaloBearer Shu as well as providing these amazing photographs of her 3d beatrice sculpture. This is just another example of how one person’s creativity and genericity keep inspiring the #WarriorNun fandom. For more information on Gisela and her shop check out ko-fi.com/kcgisela3d

We have a tiny interview w/ Shu, as a Taiwan #HaloBearer I really want to know what #WarriorNun means to Taiwan audiences!

1. How did you start watching Warrior Nun ?

Because I'm a loser lesbian who prefers sapphic shows, and the more diversity the better. Although I'm not particularly interested in the religious theme, but the other parts made me want to give it a try and the rest is herstory🥰

2. Why Warrior Nun gets you?

I came for the gays and stay for the women.

The cinematography is god tier. And all the female characters’ fighting scenes are just chef kissessssss

3. Any favorite character/scene/lines?

Oh I couldn’t pick a favorite. I have different favorites in different states of mind. And they all gave me energy to keep me going.

4. Difficulties during painting and assembly the sculpture?

( I accidentally turned this into a essay 😀)

Collecting materials: I have no idea that collecting materials would be this challenging. Tho shopping online in Taiwan is easy peasy yet it doesn't guarantee that you can find everything you need in one place. So I tried from brick-and-mortar stores in the beginning and also to get professional advice since this was my very first time painting 3D sculpture. However, the store I went to were out of stock for all items I needed, so I just bought some similar substitute to get started and ordered the rest online.

Sculpture details: The sculpture I bought is the Garage Kit from Gisela Esteves (@kcgisela).  And since the resin kit was printed in parts, some of the connecting points require some adjustments. So I can't assemble it all at once. Without professional electric hand tools, it can be a  bit challenging. I didn't have any myself so I "took care" of it with  only craft knives, sandpaper, and my personal DIY techniques.

Assemble: I used super glue for tightly parts and Epoxy resin for larger ones. Then I use putty to fill any gaps and seams. For the sake of the painting process, I didn't deal with everything at once but several times. Large seams first, smaller and tighter seams later (by the way glues smell really BAAAAAD, must always keep air fresh, and wear masks and gloves for protection). Always be extra careful with the staff because it is VERY fragile. (I broke it twice 🙃)

Painting: The base coat and protective coat were sprayed and the rest were brushed. The tip is you gotta be patient and let it dry properly. This is the best way to reduce the risk of repainting. The rest tips are to have fun and enjoy the process!  (when you use spray paint, remember to stay in a good ventilation place but avoid windy areas or it might cause your beloved sculpture with dirt or broken parts.

The whole process took me over a month, but I only cooked it  2-3 times every week and  only a couple hours each time. So the total duration is not that long. If this is your first time assembling a kit, just take your time, have fun, and no pressure. Beabea shall lead you forward. It is definitely ok if you can only take 5-10 mins each time, you WILL finish it no matter what. I only do it when I want to. What actually requires taking longer time periods is painting. Why? My experience tells me if you finish one whole section at one time, it's good for saving your pigments and you won't need to deal with the color variation problem. Or forgetting where you paused.

5. Final one! May I know the camera model?

Fujifilm XT-30 + 35mm 1.4

XT-30: I heard this model has been discontinued, but I highly recommend it. The weight of the camera body plus the lens is pretty portable. I can use it all day long without getting tired.

35mm 1.4: It's known as “the Eye of Angel” in the Fuji lens series. It’s an old design lens with magnificent beautiful shots. I've heard the shutter speed is quite slow compared to the new generation lens. (But I only have this lens so tbh I can’t really tell. And this lens is the reason why I bought a camera.)

PS. I know right now the fandom is in a mess because of the “big announcement”.  Please remember to do the box breathing, touch the leaves or whatever floats your goat.🐐 Always take care of yourself first.

Because I’m a loser lesbian and I love sapphic shows😍

2. Warrior Nun

I came for the gays and stay for the women

The ✨cinematography✨
