KEEP FIGHTING!

For more than a hundred days, we have been fighting to get Warrior Nun renewed after it was cancelled by Netflix. But what actually is involved in getting a cancelled show back on the air? The truth is, we do not know. We do know that streaming services are involved. We know that lawyers and copyrights are involved. We know that there are meetings held behind closed doors. But what exactly goes on in those meetings? We do not know.

But this is what we do know. The entertainment industry is a game of numbers. From the movies to the streaming services such as Netflix, HBO, Disney, Apple TV and others, all that matters are the numbers. For Warrior Nun, some of these numbers are the numbers of viewers and subscribers the show can attract to a streaming service, the number of streaming hours especially within the first one or two weeks after its release, the show's ratings, and ultimately, the return on investment. Will the profit equal or even surpass the cost incurred in the show’s production? The big question is this: Can Warrior Nun deliver numbers big enough to justify the show being picked up?

Warrior Nun, despite its abysmal promotion by Netflix, spent three weeks on the Netflix Global Top 10 list and has a season 2 completion rate of 68.8%. The show also boasts an impressive record as the highest-rated show on Rotten Tomatoes and as of April 4, 2023, was still in the Netflix Top 10 Originals despite being cancelled more than a hundred days ago. The fandom has done its homework regarding Warrior Nun’s 11.4M CVE, its completion rate and its global demand. We also have an estimated percentage of revenue and dollar value of Warrior Nun for Apple TV+ (4.5% of streaming revenue and an estimated $67.5M in the most recent quarter), for Starz (17% of streaming revenue and an estimated $102.9M in the most quarter), and for HBO Max (6.4% of streaming revenue and an estimated $93.1M in the most recent quarter). So when you ask if Warrior Nun can deliver the numbers, the answer is yes. Yes, we can deliver those numbers. We know we can. Now, we need to let every streaming service know that we can.

This is why we are important. What our movement is doing is showing whoever is on the other side of the ongoing negotiations that Warrior Nun has the numbers. We are telling them that this show offers a profitable investment. All our billboards, our millions of tweets, our hundred thousand plus petition signatures and the hundreds of articles written about this movement are all saying the same thing to our prospective new home. We have the numbers. We are the numbers. We can and will bring these numbers to your streaming service.

So everything we do here is important. Every tweet you make is important. Every time you stream Warrior Nun is important. Every family or friend you get to watch this show is important. Every signature on that petition is important. The memes, the video edits, the Twitter threads, the posts on Instagram and Tiktok, the phrase days, the delulu theories, the SMAUs, the food wars and everything we do as a fandom is important. YOU are important in accomplishing our goal: the renewal of Warrior Nun.

Right now, we do not know what is going on. We do not know what is being discussed. What we do know is that Simon has told us to keep fighting. What we do know is that there is something to fight for. So while Simon and the team are fighting behind closed doors, let us ensure that all the streaming services hear our message. We have the numbers. We have the data. We have a dedicated and loyal fan base. Give us our show and it is all yours.

So while we trust that Simon is doing his part, let us do our part.

Yours in the fight,

M.E.Stanley
