OCS: A little about yourself

Hi there! I'm Fym (short for For Your Majesty), I use he/they pronouns and I'm a 26yo french multi-fandom artist who specializes in wlw couples :) Since last year I mostly draw Warrior Nun fanarts!

OCS: How did you discover Warrior Nun?

A friend of mine told me about it when it first came out, something about « a show with demons and fighting nuns I could like ». I fell in love with the religious dimension and the acting more than with the story in itself, and when the second season aired I rewatched all of it in a row and it blew my mind even more.

OCS: What made you want to fight to save the show?

Apart from my love for it in itself, I think it was the unbelievable decision from Netflix to not renew it, in spite of its obvious success. For me the issue here was more about the mix of religion and sexuality rather than money cause I had not seen people fight this much since Sense8 cancellation. And at the same time, they had just canceled Teenage Bounty Hunters and First Kill so i guess it was too much, i couldn't (and i still can't) accept to let another brilliant show get away just because it has lesbians in it.

OCS: How did you discover WarriorNunInktober and a few of the reasons why you wanted to participate?

I first saw the list of prompts on an avatrice discord, I had a lot of free time for the coming month and was willing to try a new challenge. There was also more and more drama regarding the movies and I felt like the fandom needed some positivity and to be reminded of our little show.

OCS: How did you find inspiration for some of the drawings?

I always follow my instincts and the first thoughts that come to me. This sometimes involves watching a specific scene over and over again. I also tried to vary the characters so as to not make it too repetitive.

OCS: On average how long does one drawing take?

Most of the time 2 to 3 hours, sometimes more when there are many characters or complicated poses. I like to draw the characters as accurately as possible so I also had to find references for new things like Lilith's wings or Carl!

OCS: How many hours do you think you spent drawing for the WarriorNunInktober event?

Oh god maybe like 50? But keep in mind that I'm a slow artist, I get distracted easily.

OCS: What was your favorite day prompt?

Shield, honestly when I saw this word I had no idea of what to draw, I casually browsed « warrior nun shield » on the internet to find the reason behind the prompt and I had completely forgotten about the shield of faith! But it wasn't very interesting since we barely see it in the series and I stuck with my first idea, which was Michael sacrificing his life so that Ava could end it all.

OCS: What was the hardest prompt or drawing?

It was “blindfold” on the 24th day, I hesitated between several ideas but had very little time and really wanted to post it on time. I improvised a scene that looks like it came out of a fanfiction and people really liked it.

OCS: What is your favorite drawing you submitted?

This is really hard, I have a soft spot for Lilith on the 28th because i drew it very late and it came out exactly like I wanted. But also the one right before that where Bea follows Ava in the portal. I actually drew these two pieces on the same day so I guess it was a good day!

OCS: Were you surprised by the fandom’s reaction to your art?

I was surprised by the continued support, even on less interesting days like when I simply drew the necklace or the crown of thorns! I thought people would be more interested in the avatrice prompts but they liked and commented on every single piece I made. It was really motivating.

OCS: If people would like more information about your art, where can they go?

People can find all my links here https://linktr.ee/ForYourMajesty, I'm very active on twitter and I read every message! :-)

OCS: Any positive message you would like to send to the fandom?

I know a lot of people have gotten tired of the half-lies and the fighting, but I want them to keep in mind the two amazing seasons that Simon and his team gave us. Whether the show is actually saved or not, it will still live on through fanart and fanfiction and thread analysis and everything else that people may share about it.

OCS: A little about yourself

I am a queer 21 year old that likes to express my view of the world through my art and photography. I enjoy watching football and playing online games with friends in my free time!

OCS: How did you discover Warrior Nun?

I first saw Warrior Nun while scrolling through netflix, the first season had just been released and I had watched the trailer and immediately added it to my list. I didn’t get around to watching it until season 2 was released.

OCS: What made you want to fight to save the show?

What made me want to fight to save the show is there’s really nothing else like it. Sadly it’s really not common for a strong woman to lead a show and also be queer. I’ve never really felt represented in any movies or tv shows until I watched this show and I wish my younger self could have watched it and known that it's okay to be who I am and love who I love. I can still be strong and powerful but also soft and loving. This show really means a lot to me and others and I think it would be a real missed opportunity if we didn’t get back exactly what we fought for.

OCS: How did you discover WarriorNunInktober and a few of the reasons why you wanted to participate?

I actually found the prompt list while scrolling through my twitter feed on my alt account! I thought it would be a fun way to post my art and also try to get some friends into the show as well. I tried to do inktober a few years ago and just didn’t have any kind of determination to finish it, but with the WarriorNunInktober I was really trying everyday to get the drawings out and yes it was tiring but I also had SO much fun!

OCS: How did you find inspiration for some of the drawings?

A lot of the inspiration for my drawings came from scrolling through pinterest or even just scenes from the show. I really enjoyed drawing these characters in the scenes we love but also in new ones in a different universe!

OCS: On average how long does one drawing take?

On average, one drawing took about 6 hours.

OCS: How many hours do you think you spent drawing for the WarriorNunInktober event?

I spent about 150 hours total working on my drawings.

OCS: What was your favorite day prompt?

I think my favorite day's prompt was ‘The Alps’. There are so many different ideas and stories that can be created from it and it really challenged me to try something different in my art! I also loved scrolling through the hashtag to see all the different narratives people illustrated, it was really beautiful.

OCS: What was the hardest prompt or drawing?

The hardest prompt for me was day 18 ‘Crown’. I knew I wanted to draw the crown of thorns but I was really struggling to come up with a nice story to tell within the drawing, so I instead opted to just draw the crown and to save some energy for the next day.

OCS: What is your favorite drawing you submitted?

My favorite drawing I submitted was day 24 ‘blindfold’. I absolutely love Star Wars and Warrior Nun and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for a crossover between the two, so I decided to draw Ava blindfolded doing some force training in the woods!

OCS: Were you surprised by the fandom’s reaction to your art?

I was very surprised by the fandom's reaction to my art! I know the fandom to be very big and welcoming so I’m not shocked by the kindness of everyone, but I was shocked by the amount of attention it got. There's a lot of artist’s in the fandom that I look up to and it was just so uplifting to see them liking and sharing my work, it really means a lot.

OCS: If people would like more information about your art, where can they go?

I mainly post my art on Twitter and I always try to interact with people when I can. I also sometimes stream my art on Twitch under the same username!

OCS: Any positive message you would like to send to the fandom?

Keep fighting, stay hopeful and stay kind to one another. Things may not be looking the best right now but like a wise woman once said, “they can’t beat us…, not together” Be there for one another and look after each other <3

Name/Twitter Handle: Leda Sostoa @ledasostoa - And @poliamoral for more active fandom stuff.

OCS: A little about yourself

I’m 37 years old. A lesbian from Asunción, Paraguay. I studied graphic design at college, and I’m also an illustrator and comic book artist. Currently I work at a news network.

OCS: How did you discover Warrior Nun?

I was just lurking WLW fandoms on Twitter and Avatrice used to appear once in a while, but I wasn’t convinced yet to watch something Catholic Church related hahaha then the season 2 trailer was released and I said ‘ok, I need to watch this show’.

OCS: What made you want to fight to save the show?

It’s a beautiful show. It’s awesome and so is the fandom. Avatrice is currently my fav ship with CaitVi (from Arcane). I was mad at Netflix. I still am.

Español: Es una serie hermosa. Es maravillosa, también el fandom. Avatrice is actualmente mi ship favorito junto con CaitVi (de Arcane). Me enojé muchísimo con Netflix. Sigo enojada.

OCS: How did you discover WarriorNunInktober and a few of the reasons why you wanted to participate?

My dear friend Agos from the +30 WN group chat sent it to me because she knew I was trying to find motivation to do fanart again and practice my tattoo designs to start tattooing again. And of course it was time for me to contribute with something to the fandom and the fight.

OCS: How did you find inspiration for some of the drawings?

Well, as I’m practicing tattooing again after 6 years I’m going back to basics, which is traditional American old school tattoo. So I’m looking for the style and the diagramming, themes that are usual in that style and try to play with those stuff and symbologies if I find any. Some of the prompts have direct analogies with traditional designs, like the angel one, that was very fun. The crown one too, making Ava like Jesus.

OCS: On average how long does one drawing take?

It’s hard for me to tell because it depends on the complexity and my time, if I don’t have interruptions. But I think between 1 or 2 hours. The angel one took more than 3 I think.

OCS: How many hours do you think you spent drawing for the WarriorNunInktober event?

Probably more than 60 hours.

Español: Probablemente más de 60 horas.

OCS: What was your favorite day prompt?

Maybe the knives one. Just because I love Beatrice and I think I would tattoo that myself haha I was very excited about the church one too because it was a combination with a meme.

OCS: What was the hardest prompt or drawing?

As I answer these questions I haven’t finished the challenge (I’m at prompt 27), but I don’t think it will get harder than it has been. It’s between the church one and the angel one. The church one wins, the references for that church were very hard to find and then simplifying the details omg. I think I spent more than 4 hours in it.

OCS: What is your favorite drawing you submitted?

I want to say the knife one, but the crown one is there too.

OCS: Were you surprised by the fandom’s reaction to your art?

I was hoping people would like it, but I wasn’t sure because of the style, it isn’t very mainstream. But yes, it went better than expected, and I’m very glad.

OCS: If people would like more information about your art, where can they go?

To my instagram, I almost only post art there. It’s @ledasostoa too.

Español: A mi cuenta de instagram, casi solo publico arte ahí. Es @ledasostoa también.

OCS: Any positive message you would like to send to the fandom?

This is such a beautiful fandom, with so much talent, we achieved great things. Maybe if we stay together fighting and creating we can make greater things despite the disappointments.
