The Gift of Psalms 46:5

Our fandom has always been giving but one #HaloBearer has gone above and beyond recently. With permission, the OCS Newsletter wanted to highlight this act of kindness and share the story with the whole fandom. After the request for fandom questions for the Simon Barry interview, the OCS Newsletter received an unexpected message from Mya @myagonzalez03. She won the benefit auction of the Warrior Nun #101 script signed by Simon Barry and wanted to share some of it with the fandom. Unsure of the reaction, Mya asked to remain anonymous but was overwhelmed with the excitement running through the fandom with each new script post and kept sending us more to release.

On December 14, Mya sent US this message, “Seeing everyone’s quote tweets to these script releases are making me really happy. I can’t thank you guys enough for not only helping me share this with the fandom, but also allowing me to do it anonymously.”

After several requests for the release of the whole script, I went back to Mya and asked. Not only was it a yes, but she agreed to allow this story to be published. Today, we are delighted to share with you the full script and the true source of how this amazing gift came to be shared to each member of the #WarriorNun fandom.

OCS: Name/Twitter Handle - Mya @myagonzalez03

OCS: A little about yourself

I love being outdoors, going on adventures and discovering new things. On the other hand I can go on and on when it comes to talking all things related to women’s soccer. I also like to help others and to make sure everyone around me always feels comfortable and safe. I believe that kindness can go a long way. You never know what personal things those around you are dealing with, so just showing that extra little kindness to a stranger or even someone you know could go on to have a greater impact than you could know.

How did you discover Warrior Nun: I had just finished Killing Eve and was scrolling through Netflix to find something new to watch. I came across Warrior Nun and watched the trailer for it and decided to give it a try. I was skeptical at first because of the religion aspect, but after that first episode I was immediately hooked and ended up bing watching the whole season in a day without even realizing it because I was that hooked.

OCS: Thoughts and feelings When you bid for the script?

When I put a bid in for the script I knew it would be a cool collectors item to have and also something special to hold onto because at the time we still didn’t know if we had saved the show or not. Another thing that was important to me was where the money was going to and who it would be helping. I knew it was for a good cause helping the children who lost family members in the Ukraine/Russia war and so I think at the time that was more important to me. Don’t get me wrong, the script has become one of my most prized possessions, but at the end of the day knowing I did something to help others is what matters the most to me.

OCS: Thoughts and feelings when the script arrived?

When it arrived it still didn’t actually hit that I had a version of the pilot script from Simon, I was still in this weird shock/disbelief that I had actually won the auction.

OCS: Thoughts and feelings when you held the script in your hands?

When I held it in my hands that is when it all finally hit that I had something that nobody else in the fandom had. It was surreal to think and I don’t think I can even put into words everything I was feeling at that time.

OCS: What surprised you about the script versus what we see in the final version?

I think the biggest things that surprised me was the detailed descriptions we got of each character and then seeing how the actors/actresses were able to embody that and portray it in such a way where it all just made sense that nobody else but our girls could bring such amazing and complex characters to life. Other things that surprised me were how Ava’s voiceovers differed (which Simon touched on in his interview) and the change of song we see Camilla performing at cat’s cradle during the Shannon flashback scene. After reading through the script I went back and rewatched the pilot episode and followed along with the script and it was interesting to see the differences and also notice how some lines were cut and just the way it evolved from script to final product. If you have the chance to do that I highly recommend following along with the script to get that experience for yourself because it really is something special.

OCS: Your feeling on how the fans reacted?

When I decided to go to the OCS newsletter with this, I did so on the terms of anonymity. At the time I wasn’t sure how people would react, and so we proceeded to move forward without saying anything and just let the fandom enjoy it with Simon’s interview. After seeing all the different reactions and excitement that would come from each script release, I knew that I wanted to give more to fandom that has already given me so much. What stuck out to me and really solidified this decision for me was just seeing everyone’s interactions and also the Warrior Nun Italy account translating it to Italian so that even more people could enjoy it. I did it as a way to try and bring the fandom back to the beginning and really remind them what it is we’re fighting and what it is that made them fall in love with the show to begin with.

OCS: Any positive message to the fans?

What I want to say to the fans is this: I couldn’t be anymore happy being apart of a fandom like ours. I’m thankful to be surrounded by such loving and supportive people who allow everyone to be who they truly are and will never judge you for who you love. No matter what happens with our show, we need to always remember the noise we made and be proud of everything we accomplished in a year.

The fight isn’t over but take a moment to appreciate all the

friends and memories we’ve made along the way.

The OCS Newsletter wants to send a special thank you to Mya for taking the time to not only reach out to share the script with the fandom but to scan each page of the script for us. It was a true honor to be able to present your gift to the #WarriorNun fandom and to bring this story to them.
